Inspired by the work of Laura H. Rubin and depictions of Seraphim from the bible, this was my first attempt at creating a digital portrait in a similar style. I have always deeply admired Laura’s art and aspired to make similar pieces as I develop my artistic skills in a digital space. While I’m still new to using an iPad and Procreate to draw, I quickly realized that these tools were perfect for bringing my visions to life.
Over three months, I studied online resources and tutorials to teach myself the complexity of creating realistic skin texture. I diligently worked for hours each day researching reference images and perfecting each highlight and shadow down to the pixel to create a more realistic appearance. While I still believe I could refine my work further and intend to continue practicing creating digital portraits, I am ecstatic with the results I achieved with my first attempt as a digital artist.
